Kidney Stents Forever

(Stockton)

I was forty three (43) years old when I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Cervical Cancer. So, I went through Chemo and Radiation followed by a Radical Hysterectomy.

Unbeknownst to me, radiation therapy causes kidney, bladder and ureter scarring. So seven (7) months after cancer I went into Acute Renal Failure. VERY, VERY PAINFUL. That's when my Oncologist sent me in for a PET scan, and there they found severe kidney damage and severe ureter scaring bilateral.

The left side is the absolute worst. I have stents on both sides, but THANKFULLY only the left one caused excruciating pain for about a month after they replace my stents. I go in every three (3) months and get new stents followed by a four (4) day hospital stay for pain management.

If you are experiencing a lot of pain you may want to ask your doctor to prescribe Norco 10 mg along with Soma 350mg. The Norco decreases the pain significantly and the Soma stops the kidney spasms.

My stents are placed long term on the left side because of the extent of scarring and stricture. The right kidney is functioning quite well and the doctor is considering removing the right stent. However, the left one stays until my kidney completely stops functioning.

So to all the unlucky people who may have to have a stent, good luck to you and I pray that your pain isn't as bad as mine. God Bless You All.

Permanent kidney stent NEW

I have a kidney stent on my right side due to (I guess a tumor) the docs don't really tell me they have said your kidney isn't draining right might be a tumor. Might be? Now its true I do have stage 4 Cancer and am under treatment but no one has ever confirmed a tumor for the kidney issue. Anyway they just say to me you are probably going to need this stent forever.tomorrow I am seeing a new urologist about this but let me tell you I want this out! For someone living with cancer this stent has been THE WORST part of everything!I've always had discomfort and pain with it but about 2 months ago I started experiencing severe pain with it.so much so that I can hardly walk or do ANYTHING at all. I pee a lot have incontinence also but the pain is like hot sharp knives stabbing me in the groin! I feel very ignored by my doctors at this time they act as if I'm exaggerating my pain. They have taken away ALL my pain meds. There were only 2 meds. Oxycodone which worked well and morphine which doesn't work.they tell me I have to wait to see a pain management doc which is months away! I'm at my wits end with this pain because I cannot work do any cleaning or anything fun. Just sit in bed or suffer greatly.I don't even know how to get this across to the new urologist.they just don't listen.but to take away pain meds and let someone suffer should be illegal.any advice from someone with these stupid stents? Oh also I do take toviaz, but its a sample I can't get it approved thru insurance but at first it did help now it doesn't touch this pain. It is used for bladder spasms and has no pain relieving quality to it. Just hoping someone has any advice.
