Kidney Stents

by Jane Hopson
(Notts)

I've had kidney stents in for 3 weeks now and it's been the worse feeling ever. These stents were fitted after some problems with kidney stones.

So far, my experience with these stents has been very unpleasant. I have found them to be worse than recovering from a full hysterectomy. The discomfort, pain and generally feeling poorly is sometimes unbearable... It has been a horrible and awful experience.

I am constantly going to the toilet and experiencing pain when passing urine. Even my bowels have stopped working properly. I just wish it was all over.

I've been back to the hospital twice in two (2) weeks. I was given a date to return to the hospital to remove the stents but they had to cancel the appointment. Now I am at my wits end suffering and not knowing when I'll get another appointment to finally get rid of these stents.

I would not wish the experience I have had with stents on anyone else. For those with stent or who may have to have stents inserted, I just hope it doesn't get as bad as this for you....

Kidney Stent NEW
by: Anonymous

Wow, didn't realise there were so many ppl suffering the same
Way as me. Had several large stones removed and a stent
Inserted. I feel like I want to die!!!! I am also forever running as fast as I can doubled up to the toilet to at times only have a drop come out with the feeling that my insides are dropping out from all the pushing I have to do to pass urine. I have also for the last three days had a headache from the squeezing and
Pushing I've been doing. My temperature went up to 38.9.
The other evening. I can't sit ir stand for too long as I feel pain
down below. I have the stent in for another 2 weeks if I can
Make it with the help of Cocodemol.
Hope you all make it through this difficult time.

Never again NEW
by: Buddy

I've had my stent in for 2 weeks now , I'm getting it out tomorrow thank God. All I do is go to the bathroom passing blood from day one and burns like the devil. Pain in my lower belly and around to my kidney. The more I do the more sore I get, and I get tired easy. This will be my 5th kidney stone in the last 10 years , first one with a stent. Yes it hurts like hell to pass a stone , but my other 4 it was only a day or less. 2 weeks of this pain and bleeding made me deside if I get another stone , I'm putting up with the pain and passing it. I know that sounds crazy but that is what this stent done to me, he'll on earth people.

Torture NEW
by: Anonymous

I ended up having a stent placed after a stone got stuck in the ureter ( 9 mm in kidney) and severe infection in the kidney.
I will never have another Stent placed as it caused life threatening high BP (200/175), constant feeling of needing to pee and bladder spasms Everytime I urinated.
It was pure torture

I feel your pain ! I have a stent with the past two weeks and it has been pure torture. Went back to work last week after a week off and I dont know how I managed it. I also developed a kidney infection from the stent. Due back to hospital next week and counting the days! Just want it out now along with the kidney which they could not remove last time. The nurses made said you would only have pain for a day or two !! Not the case ......

Pain when I pee, bladder spasms....I can't take much more...can't sit for long, haven't been to work for 5 weeks now just can't mznage it, I go bk into hospital in a weeks time an I'm counting the hours to get this stent and stone out!! The consultant didn't say it would be this bad!! Omg I'm taking loads of pain killers and oxybutin.

Stents
by: Mpaugh

I had both my children natural. No meds. I have had a hysterectomy, back surgery, gall bladder...ect. BUT nothing and I mean nothing compares to the pain of a kidney stone and NOTHING compares to the nerve racking pain and discomfort of a stent. Two weeks now and I am miserable. If your doc says stent JUST SAY NO. there has to HAS to be other options!!!!
