Plenty Fluids Prevent Kidney Stones

by Manish
(New Delhi india)

I would like to relate my experience with kidney stones, for the benefit of others.

I am a lawyer by profession. I had a bad habit of being a workaholic, which at times caused me consume less water than normal.

I used to work for 12 to 16 hours a day and generally forget to drink water at regular interval. This resulted in the formation of renal calculi (kidney stones).

Initially the sizes of stones were 4-6 mm, which allowed them to pass out in the urine without any problems. This time, however, it was 10 mm.

Initially I was using homeopathic treatments but as the pain gradually increased, I went for ct. This revealed that the kidney stone was 10 mm in size and it was stuck in my ureter. My doctor recommended immediate surgery to remove the stone.

I was hospitalized and taken into OT when it was discovered that, due to blockage, puss had formed. A DJ stent was inserted and my operation was deferred. In order to insert the stent I was put under general anesthesia. I was discharged next day and put on antibiotics for about a week.

As I had the stent inserted I had severe pain for two days especially while passing urine. However, it later improved and I got some relief.

After ten (10) days I was again admitted to hospital and underwent an operation, where doctors used RIRS technique and again inserted a DJ stent. I was discharged the next day. For couple of hours after, I was passing blood in my urine, which gradually disappeared after I had consumed more than 3-4 liters of water.

I still have pain in my lower back and at times I pass blood in my urine. My doctors have advised me to visit for review after a week. If everything is okay, my stent will be removed after two (2) weeks.

I have been told that the stent will be removed by administering local anesthesia in my penis. Currently I am on antibiotics and pain killers. Let's hope everything is normal.

Lastly, many people have been asking whether I will be able to have a normal sex life. Guys it's your life and each person must decide for themselves. If you have some problem in your body, I will suggest that you wait until it completely cured. Waiting for couple of weeks will allow you to have a better future life. After all, it is in the interest of your health so take adequate rest for a better tomorrow.

Have fun once you are completely fit. Lastly, don't forget to drink plenty of fluids to avoid kidney stones. Don't make the same mistake that I made.
