Ureteric (Kidney) Stent

by Sats

I had an operation, on 20th October 2016, for kidney and bladder stones removal. A ureteric stent was put in place to quickly aid the healing process and also to remove fragments of stones.

I started getting severe pains in the back and in the genitals, and a sort of burning sensation during urination.

It has been more than a week now since the stent was inserted and it still hurts, especially during urination. I am truly fed up with the stent and I can't wait to have it removed. The pain and discomfort are unbearable, even though I am still taking antibiotics and strong painkillers.

Can anyone tell me if they have gone through the pain and how it feels after the stent is removed? I would really appreciate your feedback.

I have my kidney stents removed every 3 months I have absolutely no pain and no change in lifestyle. When stents no longer work I need dialysis. I was not aware that they can be painful or uncomfortable

I have a stent also, it was put in January 13, 2017. It has been the worse pain I have ever had. Also, I had gas pains from the anesthesia, that hurt too. I had no idea it would be like this. Prayerfully, my stents will be removed within 2 weeks. My prayer goes out to all who are experiencing this pain from the stents.

Ibuprofen NEW

I was just told by a pharmacist the other night to not take a lot of ibuprofen if you have kidney problems and a stent in place. She said ibuprofen is bad on the kidneys and can cause permanent damage if taken every day where as Tylenol affects the liver. I currently have a stent in place.
