kidney stent discomfort to unbearable pain
by Eric J. Rising
I am a 37 year old male that has had 2 kidney stones in the past ten years. The last 2 stones were relatively big (1.5cm and .7cm). I went to the hospital on a Sunday, and on Monday afternoon they put a stent from my left kidney to my bladder.
The pain was immediate and was constant but became unbearable when I urinated. After about a week the doctor did blast the kidney stones but the pain was still there. Finally, after 2 weeks of antibiotics that didn't work, he put me on Keflex (which I am slightly allergic to).
The pain from the stent got better but I was sick as a dog, while on the antibiotic. Now, just three days shy of a month with the stent in, they are taking it out and I have never been so happy in my life. It was required to drain the kidney but I don't ever want to have to go through this again.
