Kidney Stents Forever
I was forty three (43) years old when I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Cervical Cancer. So, I went through Chemo and Radiation followed by a Radical Hysterectomy.
Unbeknownst to me, radiation therapy causes kidney, bladder and ureter scarring. So seven (7) months after cancer I went into Acute Renal Failure. VERY, VERY PAINFUL. That's when my Oncologist sent me in for a PET scan, and there they found severe kidney damage and severe ureter scaring bilateral.
The left side is the absolute worst. I have stents on both sides, but THANKFULLY only the left one caused excruciating pain for about a month after they replace my stents. I go in every three (3) months and get new stents followed by a four (4) day hospital stay for pain management.
If you are experiencing a lot of pain you may want to ask your doctor to prescribe Norco 10 mg along with Soma 350mg. The Norco decreases the pain significantly and the Soma stops the kidney spasms.
My stents are placed long term on the left side because of the extent of scarring and stricture. The right kidney is functioning quite well and the doctor is considering removing the right stent. However, the left one stays until my kidney completely stops functioning.
So to all the unlucky people who may have to have a stent, good luck to you and I pray that your pain isn't as bad as mine. God Bless You All.
