No Stent for the Third Lithotripsy!
by Charlene Crosthwaite
After having a stent inserted, then two lithotripsies, then having the encrusted stent removed, just imagine the look on my face when my urologist told me that a 10 millimeter stone and several large fragments were again in my ureter!
I thought, "Oh no not again!" I figured I would have to have another stent inserted. I was a bit surprised when Dr. McLeod told me that he didn't think I would need to have another stent because of the pain and discomfort that comes along with having one. Anyone who has had one knows what I'm talking about. It was a relief to know that the lithotripsy could be done without one.
At this point...two weeks later...yes there were some issues with the passing of the fragments and some pain during the process, but at least I'm not dealing with another stent.
With it being the holiday season, I will wish for the kidney stones to be completely gone!
This for myself and everyone else out there that has suffered with these nasty buggers.
Happy Holidays to All!
NOTE: Lithotripsy is a procedure that uses shock waves to breakup kidney stones. It is non-invasive, meaning that no surgery is required. Click here to read more...
