I've been on dialysis for 6 years now (in-center hemo) and when I first started didn't have a clue what to expect or really any good direction on what to do or not to do except for nutritional sheets with what I can and can't eat. One thing that wasn't included in that sheet was the fact that so many processed foods have phosphates in them and that phosphates are worse than plain phosphorus because dialysis can't remove it as well.
