Kidney conditions can range from mild to severe and can also be classified as aqute or chronic conditions.

Conditions that have a sudden and rapid onset are known as acute. Those that result in kidney function delcine over an extended period of time (months or years) are know as chronic conditions.

We'll highlight some of the more common kidney conditions, as well as some less known ones. We will describe the conditions, their causes, symptoms and treatament options.

Kidney Disease

Kidney disease affects millions of people around the world. Some conditions are mild and last only a few days, but others are more severe and long term.

Renal Failure

Renal Failure is basically, a decline in kidney function. It is classified into 5 stages, ranging from mild to severe.

Diabetes Management

Diabetes mellitus is classified as either type 1 or type 2. Diabetes causes insufficient production of insulin or the ineffective use of insulin.

High Blood Pressue

High blood pressure (hypertension) is a primary cause of kidney failure and it is also a symptom of kidney failure.

Kidney infection is an invasion of the kidneys by Pathogens. Infection of the kidneys is called pyelonephritis.

Kidney stones (renal calculi) are very painful and affect 1 in every 10 persons. Dehydration and diet are among the leading causes of kidney stones.
